#TruthTuesday... Say NO to waist trainers!!! It is the common belief that wearing one of these while working out will help you get a smaller waist and flatter stomach more quickly. This is FALSE.
(1) Wearing a corset during exercise gives your core muscles a false sense of support. Your muscles cannot fully function properly if they are being restrained. The purpose of core strengthening exercises is to train your core muscles to naturally hold you in, giving you the same look these waist trainers artificially provide..
(2) As you can see in the photo above, wearing a corset tightly for hours can cause serious damage. You risk bruising vital internal organs like your kidneys or liver, and other tissue damage..
(3) They do NOT promote fat loss in any way. They're designed to make you sweat so whatever weight loss you may be seeing is primarily water weight and not fat..
(4) You know how it's hard to breathe when someone hugs you too tightly? That's essentially what these corsets are doing. Your lungs now have less space to expand, causing them to now take in less oxygen. You need oxygen to breath, especially while exercising. You also need oxygen for metabolism. Increased metabolism promotes weight loss. See how counterproductive this is?
You want a slimmer waist? I have an exercise for that! You want a flatter stomach? I have an exercise for that! These TEMPORARY fixes aren't worth the PERMANENT damages. Do your research, educated yourself, consult a health professional (such as myself). Stop short-cutting your health, put in the necessary work. YOU'RE WORTH IT!
